10. Next Goal Wins (Taika Waititi)

If you ignore the terrible Thor: Love & Thunder, director Taika Waititi has an impressive hit rate. Based on a true story, his next film sees Michael Fassbender star as a maverick football coach, tasked with turning around the fortunes of the Samoan national team following a 31-0 defeat in World Cup qualifying. Adapted from the documentary of the same name, the film also stars Will Arnett and Elizabeth Moss and promises a return to the heartwarming comedic style we saw in JoJo Rabbit and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

Release date: September 22nd

9. Renfield (Chris McKay)

Starring Nicholas Cage as Dracula, this comedy horror follows Nicholas Hoult’s titular Renfield, the famous Count’s long serving henchman, as he seeks solace in a support group and finds a new lease of life in the modern world.
With a script from Rick & Morty writer Ryan Ridley, Chris McKay, the director behind the excellent Lego Batman movie, will look to inject a similar vein of zany humour here.

Release date: April 14th

  1. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (James Mangold)

Harrison Ford will be donning the fedora one final time, as he attempts to take the Indiana Jones franchise out on a high, and erase the bitter taste of the poorly received 2008 instalment (Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).
Featuring flash backs and (based on the trailer) an impressively de-aged ford, the film will also star Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Boyd Holbrook.
With Steven Spielberg handing director duties over to Logan director James Mangold, hopes are high for a return to the swashbuckling blockbuster action of the original trilogy.

  1. Barbie (Greta Gerwig)

Billed as a comedy romance, little is known about this film based on the iconic fashion doll, but with a script written by indie darlings Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig and starring ‘A’ listers Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, hopes are high for a inventive left field take on the famous Matell toy. Check out the inspired homage to a classic in the trailer below…

  1. Knock at the Cabin (M.Night Shyamalan)

While on holiday in a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers, who demand they make an unthinkable choice to prevent the end of the world. Based on the popular novel ‘The Cabin at the end of the World’ by Paul Tremblay, Signs and Sixth Sense director M.Night Shyamalan will hope to recapture his spark after a string of duds. The trailer looks very promising as Dave Bautista and Rupert Grint headline the cast for this mystery thriller.

Release date: February 3rd

  1. M3gan (Gerald Johnstone)

Following up his fantastic 2021 mystery chiller Malignant, word is writer James Wan has conjured up another modern horror classic with M3gan, the story of an advanced childcare android turned killer. Directed by Gerald Johnstone, and starring Get Out’s Allison Williams, we won’t have to wait long to find out, when the film opens in early January.

  1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol:3 (James Gunn)

Before he departs for the DC universe, James Gunn will round off his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for the MCU. The film, which sees Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista all returning, will see the Guardians face off against Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock, and if the trailer is anything to go by, will deliver an emotionally charged finale.

Release date: May 5th

  1. Cocaine Bear (Elizabeth Banks)

Based on the incredible true story of a grizzly bear who ingested cocaine thrown from a drug runners plane. Elizabeth Banks directs, while Keri Russell, Alden Ehrenreich and the late Ray Liotta are part of the oddball group caught in the crosshairs of the bears coke fuelled rampage.
The trailer promises a mix of dark humour, gore and thrills with the potential to become a cult favourite.

  1. Killers of the Flower Moon (Martin Scorsese)

With a mammoth 200 million dollar budget, and a heavyweight cast including Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, its impossible not to get excited about the new Martin Scorsese film. Based on a book by American journalist David Grann, the story follows the investigation by a fledgling F.B.I, into a series of murders of Native American tribe members that took place in Osage county Oklahoma in the 1920’s.

  1. Dune: Part Two (Denis Villenueve)

The second part to Denis Villenueve’s epic Dune adaptation is due to hit screens later this year and promises to up the stakes, as Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides unites the Fremen people of Dune and wages war on the conspirators who destroyed his family. Alongside Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya and Javier Bardem all return and are joined by newcomers Christopher Walken and Florence Pugh.
A master filmmaker, with an all star cast, adapting the action packed 2nd half of an all time classic novel. Expect greatness.
